Introduction
BYD has reached a monumental milestone by producing its eight millionth electric vehicle (EV) at its newly inaugurated factory in Rayong, Thailand. This achievement comes just three months after hitting the seven million mark.
Main Point: Rapid Growth and Market Penetration
The new factory in Rayong is capable of producing 150,000 vehicles annually. The eight millionth unit was a blue BYD Dolphin hatchback—Thailand’s most popular EV model. Between January and May, BYD sold 12,942 units in Thailand, capturing about 40% of the country’s booming EV market.
Conclusion: Competitive Landscape
While BYD leads with significant market share and rapid production capabilities, other Chinese manufacturers like Hozon and SAIC are also making strides in Thailand’s automotive sector.
